CRP Subsea has been awarded multiple contracts by a major oil and gas original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The contracts involve supplying four market-leading solutions to a deepwater oil and gas field located offshore Angola, in the southern part of the African continent.

CRP Subsea’s innovative integral buoyancy modules will be attached to two dynamic umbilicals, to establish lazy wave configurations. An integral compliant clamping technology will be used to ensure a uniform clamping pressure around the umbilicals, thereby eliminating the risk of damage to them. Additionally, hold back clamps will be provided to support the main dynamic umbilicals, ensuring that they hold in position. Uraduct® has also been chosen for subsea crossing protection during the laying of the umbilicals on the seabed. Uraduct® gives the umbilical’s superior abrasion and impact resistance as well as reducing the risk of dropped object damage. Finally, bend stiffeners will be engineered to cater to the unique requirements of the umbilicals where they connect to the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

George Dawson, Sales Engineer at CRP Subsea states:

“This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality and dependable solutions that align with the evolving needs of our key customer. We are honoured to have been selected to provide four of our innovative solutions for this project. I anticipate the continued development of our relationship, built on trust and mutual success, we look forward to meeting and exceeding expectations.”

Manufactured at CRP Subsea’s state-of-the-art-manufacturing facility in the North West of England. Project engineering works will start imminently, with final delivery in quarter 2 next year.

Product information

Integral buoyancy modules clamp directly to subsea pipelines providing buoyancy at specific locations. They combine the functions of the traditional clamp and buoyancy elements into one unit, so there is no need for a separate internal clamp assembly. As a result, they have fewer component parts so there is the added benefit of faster and more cost-effective installation. Integral buoyancy modules offer improved handleability using an innovative lightweight installation tool, consequently providing enhanced safety.

Hold back clamps are used to keep a dynamic flexible pipe, umbilical or cable in a desired position. They are often used when flexibles are in close proximity to one another as they help avoid clashing. The hold back clamp is installed on the flexible and is then connected to the desired location.

Uraduct® offers comprehensive protection for a range of products, including fibre optic cables, power cables, umbilicals, flexible and rigid flowlines, hoses, and bundled products. In addition to safeguarding against abrasion and impact, Uraduct® can also add ballast to cables and flowlines. Its exceptional performance has established Uraduct® as an industry standard for cable and flowline protection.

A bend stiffener is a bend-limiting device suited to dynamic applications, used to protect flexible pipelines, umbilicals or cables.  Manufactured from an elastomeric material, the bend stiffener is suited to the constant wave and current-induced motion of dynamic installations. We have an extensive track record in the supply of bend stiffeners, with zero failures.
