Advanced Insulation, which employs over 400 people globally and 200 in the UK, won the national Health and Safety Award sponsored by AIG. The award goes to the manufacturer that has achieved the most impressive or innovative improvements in the health and safety culture of their workplace.

After winning the regional heat, Advanced Insulation was up against a range of innovative businesses from across the UK for the national award.  Selecting Advanced Insulation as the winner, the judges were very impressed with the clear metrics employed across all elements of the business and said, “there’s a clear emphasis from the leadership team that the health and safety culture throughout the business is paramount.”

Andrew Bennion, Managing Director at AIS said:

“We were thrilled for the regional recognition let alone this. The award shows that all our hard work and efforts of our dedicated team seem to be working. We’re thrilled to bits.”

Daniel Howell, Group QHSE Manager at AIS said:

“The health and safety culture change initiative that we introduced, has been bought into by all within our global organisation, from the senior management team to the shop floor. Since we launched the initiative, sustainable improvements have been introduced, key risks are significantly lower, and injury rates have fallen by 76% across the group. The huge achievement in winning the EEF National Award for Health and Safety recognises the scale of the improvements that have been made and helps demonstrate that we are well on the way to achieving our objective of a world class health and safety culture”.

Simone Gallimore, Manufacturing Industry Lead at AIG UK said:

“Boosting health and safety in the workplace leads to significant improvements in employee wellbeing, operational efficiency and reduced spend on insurance and accidents. Manufacturers are leading the way. Advanced Insulation justly deserves this award for the fantastic work that they have done to improve their health and safety culture, setting a great example for manufacturers up and down the country.”

Stephen Phipson, CEO at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation said:

“Health and Safety is paramount within the sector so I must congratulate all of the team at Advanced Insulation for the positive steps they have taken along with the priority Health and Safety clearer takes. They are a fantastic example and I hope other manufacturers replicate some of the key steps they’ve taken.”
