AIS Manuplas provide bump guard to Hydro Ness project

The hydroelectric visitor experience was officially unveiled on 28 July 2022.

The award-winning Hydro Ness project in Inverness opened to the public last week, featuring a bump guard from AIS Manuplas.

Known as a hydro scheme, Hydro Ness will generate around 500,000 kWh of renewable energy every year. The design itself is believed to date back to ancient Greece and works by drawing water from a low level to a higher level to generate electricity via an Archimedes Screw.

We were delighted to play a part when asked to provide protection over a steel guarder. After creating a series of designs, the final specification was approved, and we supplied a bespoke solution which protects visitors when exploring the fascinating technology.

Our AIS Manuplas team manufactured the bump guard in a similar way to how we produce boat fenders, and our versatile approach shows how, once again, we have the expertise to take on unique projects.

Hydro Ness itself is more than an eye-catching design. It features educational signage, is free to visit and open 24 hours a day. The energy generated will help reduce the carbon footprint of the area.
