AIS acquires aquaculture technology company Imenco Aqua

Founded in Norway in 1985, Imenco Aqua is a leading supplier of primarily sub-surface aqua products almost exclusively focused on the global, high growth, aquaculture market, specifically the farming of Atlantic salmon.

In line with its long-term growth strategy and commitment to expanding in high-potential markets, AIS has completed the acquisition of Imenco Aqua, a leading aquaculture technology company with operations in Norway and Chile.

This acquisition marks another significant milestone following AIS’ 2025 acquisition of Ovun, further bolstering the company’s presence in the marine sector. The integration of Imenco Aqua aligns with AIS’ long-term strategic vision, significantly increasing its presence in aquaculture, a growing and non-cyclical market.

With Imenco Aqua’s specialist aquaculture product range, AIS will not only expand its marine product suite but also establish its first presence in Chile, providing opportunities for AIS products within the region, while deepening its footprint in Norway, one of the world’s leading marine markets.

Andrew Bennion, AIS CEO:

“This acquisition is highly complementary with our recent Ovun acquisition and further accelerates our market penetration in the fast-growing aquaculture market. Imenco Aqua’s products are differentiated from our current product offering in this market and therefore provide tangible cross-sell opportunities across our respective customer bases. Drawing on Imenco Aqua’s expertise in Chile and strong presence near Ovun, Norway, we are confident of a smooth integration and excellent cultural fit between our businesses.”

As part of the acquisition, AIS will welcome new employees in Norway and Chile to the AIS Group. Once fully integrated, Imenco Aqua will become part of the AIS Marine division, managed through Ovun in Norway. We are not planning any significant changes to the day-to-day operations, and our teams will work together to develop a new strategy as a combined group, focusing on opportunities for cross-selling and growth.

Jan Møllerhaug, Managing Director, Ovun and Tommy Storsveen, General Manager Imenco Aqua.

Jan Møllerhaug, Managing Director, Ovun:

“I think Imenco Aqua will bring an important step for AIS and Ovun within the aquaculture market and foresee significant cross-sale opportunities. I welcome every single employee of Imenco Aqua and look forward to working together.”

Tommy Storsveen, General Manager Imenco Aqua:

“We in Imenco Aqua are excited to be joining AIS and to take a central part in the aquaculture business development together with the strong and competent teams at AIS. We have been in the aquaculture business for more than 40 years and have seen a huge technology development in the industry with several changes in market needs. To be a step ahead requires a strong consolidation of competences and resources. With AIS as owner and as a technology focused Group, we see numerous opportunities for success in both current and new market segments. AIS’ global presence will also be crucial for exploring new markets.

We have already had the pleasure of meeting various people from AIS and found opportunities for collaboration and synergies between the entities. We will be stronger together and will define the future aquaculture Industry with new technologies. I am really looking forward to working closely with our new colleagues and to proudly introduce our culture, history and skilled employees to the AIS Group.”

The addition of Imenco Aqua to the AIS Group will strengthen its position as a global marine solutions provider and opens new opportunities in aquaculture, subsea, and offshore markets.
