Tri-Strakes® Stinger is a vortex induced vibration (VIV) suppression system designed for deepwater steel catenary risers and flowlines, reducing fatigue damage caused by vortex shedding and improving long-term pipeline performance.

Advanced VIV protection for deepwater pipelines

Tri-Strakes® Stinger suppresses vortex induced vibration by preventing periodic vortex shedding along risers and pipelines. It reduces fatigue damage, improves load bearing performance and is suitable for S-lay and J-lay operations in harsh offshore deepwater environments.

VIV elimination
Eliminates periodic vortex shedding along steel catenary risers and pipelines, reducing vibration and preventing fatigue damage such as girth weld failure and premature structural failure.
High strength
High load bearing capability with impact and abrasion resistant strake geometry, designed to withstand demanding offshore installation and operational conditions in deepwater environments.
Custom design
Can be designed to meet individual project requirements with flexible strake geometry options. Previous designs include one piece ‘wrap-around’ mouldings with castellated or socket/spigot ends or interlocking half-shells.
