The milestones and events that have taken us from a company of fewer than ten people operating from a single site to a business with around 1,000 employees and a worldwide presence.

2025

AIS acquired the CAPSE site in Aberdare to expand our battery testing capabilities and acquired Ovun, a Norwegian specialist in polymer-based products.

In October 2025, AIS became a publicly listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange as Advanced Innergy Holdings Ltd (ASX:AIH).

2024

AIS acquired injection moulding specialist GAP Plastics, adding further manufacturing and materials expertise to the Group.

Our ContraTherm® B85 subsea insulation solution also won the national Make UK Award for Innovation.

2023

Awarded the King's Award for Enterprise. Joint venture in USA formed. Winner of Export Award at Made in the UK national awards.

2022

AIS formed a joint venture in Canada and acquired subsea specialist CRP Subsea, expanding our capabilities across subsea protection and engineering.

2021

AIS opened a new £8 million, 65,000 sq. ft manufacturing facility in Gloucester, equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. We also established a project office in Malaysia.

2020

AIS acquired Bardot in La Ciotat, France, expanding our capabilities and strengthening our presence in the European marine market.

2009-2019

In 2014, we acquired Manuplas, adding buoyancy, flotation and impact protection capabilities across the subsea and marine markets. In 2015, we acquired Covertherm, expanding our insulation jacket manufacturing capabilities. By the end of the decade, AIS had established a growing international presence, with facilities and subsidiaries across Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East and Asia.

1993–2008

The foundations of AIS were established in 1993 with the formation of Alderley Materials by Simon Shepherd, developing the phenolic-based passive fire protection technology that continues to underpin parts of our product portfolio today. Advanced Insulation was formed in 2007, followed by the acquisition of Alderley Materials in 2008.
