ContraTherm® C25 subsea thermal insulation has passed a major milestone and can now boast a 10-year lifespan and a long list of successful contracts.

We have developed it to provide the market with a flexible material suitable for dynamic applications and flow assurance for complex subsea equipment. Since its introduction, we have applied over 2.5 million kgs of material.

Being one of the most tested materials in the world means it has become a trusted solution. This has been the case since our Total CLOV for Aker Solutions project – the first completed with C25 subsea thermal insulation.

Since then, we have used it on memorable projects such as Kaombo - the largest subsea development in Africa. We applied over 900,000 kgs of C25 on this project, which started in 2014 and is still ongoing to this day.

In its ten years of service, we have used C25 to complete over 100 contracts, applying 2.5 million kgs of material in all major oil basins around the world. C25 can be found in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, offshore Brazil, West Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Canada, among other locations all over the world.

ContraTherm® C25 is both Total GS EN COR 226 and ExxonMobil GP650801 compliant. Indeed, ContraTherm® C25 remains a thermally efficient applied solution that reduces the overall weight of your insulated structure.

Here’s to the next ten years of ContraTherm® C25.
