Major project win For ContraFlex KZ at Kazakhstan’s Karabatan plant

AIS is delighted to announce that our joint venture, ContraFlex Kazakhstan (ContraFlex KZ) has secured a major project win for PFP (passive fire protection) and insulation jackets.

Our joint venture in the region, ContraFlex KZ, has won a major order to deliver ContraFlex® PFP and insulation jackets to KCOI (Kazakhstan Caspian Offshore Industries) and its customer NCOC (North Caspian Operating Company). The project is the Long Term Slugcatcher Project (LTSP), which will see the existing slugcatchers removed and replaced at the Karabatan onshore plant during a major shutdown in October.

ContraFlex KZ won the project thanks to its excellent reputation in the region, particularly with NCOC. In 2022 ContraFlex KZ provided PFP jackets to NCOC for the old slugcatcher, following repairs. Turnaround time was vital to minimise shutdown time for the customer. 400m² of jackets were manufactured and delivered in 19 days, minimising the shutdown and saving the customer significant costs. ContraFlex KZ has repeatedly shown that it can do things in country that no one else could achieve, and this was instrumental in securing the new order for the LTSP project. The new project requires 2,000m² of PFP, as well as additional insulation jackets.

General Manager, Paddy Dyson had this to say:

"AIS set up ContraFlex KZ exactly 10 years ago and this contract award is an excellent way to celebrate its 10th anniversary. My thanks to all the ContraFlex® team and our partners in Aksai, who have put in a lot of hard work to secure this contract."
