Crew-approved mooring buoys for Falmouth Harbour
Falmouth Harbour has strengthened its position as one of the UK's leading deep-water ports with a £50,000 upgrade to their post-WW2 steel mooring buoys to better serve the growing number of superyachts and large commercial vessels visiting the harbour. This project aimed to enhance the harbour's appeal as a flexible and reliable Atlantic gateway.

Unique fender for tourist boat no problem for Manuplas®
Our customer, a major cruise line, required a fender to protect a tourist boat stored on the back of a cruise ship. For use in the harsh arctic environment, the customer needed a large fender to protect the vessel against bumps such as ice. To complete what was a unique project, the fender also needed to be appealing to the eye as the boats intended use was commercial.

Our customer needed a reliable, low maintenance mooring buoy for vessels operating in one of Australia's busiest harbours.

The high impact absorption rate of our mooring buoys protects the buoy and the moored vessel in all weathers, lowering maintenance costs.
Expert recommendation
For maximum operational life we recommended Kevlar reinforcement of the skin for extra tear resistance.

Solution

We supplied a foam barrel buoy coated in a high-performance polyurethane elastomer skin to ensure low maintenance and long service life. For maximum operational life we recommended Kevlar reinforcement of the skin for extra tear resistance. This provides optimum protection from contact with large heavy vessels and the ability to cope with variable weather conditions. The buoy is 4.1m long and 2.2m diameter, making it ideal for mooring large vessels.
