Keep critical connections protected in the harshest offshore environments

ContraFlame® enclosures provide integrated insulation and passive fire protection for valves, flanges and riser hang-off flanges in demanding offshore environments. Designed to withstand blast, seawater and extreme temperatures, the bespoke removable system delivers reliable protection while allowing straightforward installation, inspection and maintenance.

Benefits

Protect critical connections without compromising access

ContraFlame® enclosures combine passive fire protection, thermal insulation and corrosion protection in a robust, removable system. Moulded components bolt together quickly on site, making installation straightforward while allowing access for inspection and maintenance when required.

Up to 120 minutes jet fire protection
ContraFlame® JF60 enclosures are 50 mm thick and provide J60 protection. ContraFlame® JF120 enclosures are 56 mm thick and provide J120 protection. Both systems maintain critical temperatures <200 °C.
-196 °C to +150 °C operating temperature range
ContraFlame® enclosures are tested and proven for use in extremes of temperature, making them capable of protecting structures in the most demanding topside operating environments.
Corrosion resistant suitable for the splash zone
The joints of ContraFlame® enclosures are sealed with a fire rated silicone that means they offer anti-corrosion protection and are suitable for use in the splash zone (-5 LAT).

Specifications

  • A combined lightweight system providing passive fire protection, insulation and corrosion prevention
  • Based on phenolic syntactic foam and phenolic glass reinforced laminate
  • The 4 mm outer D2004 topcoat system (available on JF120-200 enclosure) functions as an outer pipe of GRP to enhance the integrity of the C50 syntactic foam and to provide long term mechanical protection
  • The D2004 matrix is free of osmosis
  • The system carries jet fire certifications specifically covered by Lloyds and DNV and has been tested to ISO 22899-1
  • Our enclosures are suited to freezing rain, UV, flare radiation (5 kW/m² with a presumed temperature of +150 °C), de-icing steam and total submersion in seawater
  • The system has been blast tested up to 4.2 bar
  • The system has been tested for smoke generation to NES 711 with a rating of 8.71 & Toxicity Index NES 713 of 1.41.
